Maurice Barnes is Chief Executive Officer of VM Innovations. He is the former CEO of eGov Jamaica Ltd., and has over 26 years of technical, entrepreneurial and leadership experience in the Information and Communications Technology industry in the areas of Executive Management, project management, systems analysis, software development, systems implementation, administration, training and user support in the Public and Private Sector.
Maurice currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Universal Service Fund, a member of the National Information and Communications Technical Advisory Council (NICTAC) and has represented Jamaica in The Electronic Government Network of Latin America and the Caribbean, which brings together the e-government authorities of the countries in the region. He has delivered speeches at technology conferences and sat on various discussion panels locally and internationally in the areas of Digital Government, Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies.
Maurice is a strong advocate for Innovation, Open-Source Solutions, Financial Technology, Digital Government and the Digital Society. He champions servant leadership, staff empowerment and agile practices. He is Scrum Master certified in Agile Project Management, received Executive Leadership training at Sloan Business School at MIT, and has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Innovation and Design Thinking. He is a proud graduate of the University of the West Indies, Jamaica and the Heriot-Watt University, Scotland where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Electronics and Master of Science in Information Technology with Distinction respectively.
